After amassing 600 hours of training an testing, she was certified by the New York Pilates Guild under the direction and tutelage of Romana Kryzanowska, the celebrated protège of Joseph Pilates. Her decision to focus on personal training seemed the next logical step, an extension really, of her already established career as athlete and coach. Sondra Fair entered the Pilates and fitness arena while establishing a formidable career in the world of professional ballet. Sondra’s Ballet West career spans thirty years, as a dancer, Ballet Mistress and Associate Artistic Director. Those years brought out Sondra’s ability to coach professionals so they could achieve their highest potential. The dancer/athletes she coached advanced in their careers, often moving from corps de ballet to principal. Sondra’s ability to guide them through rigorous training, providing advice on nutrition, injury prevention and mental discipline, helped Ballet West reach national recognition. Sondra was selected by the John Butler Foundation to stage Carmina Burana, a clear indication of her dedication and the achievement of the dancers she trained. Sondra utilized Pilates as a method of body conditioning and strengthening for herself and the dancers. Pilates had become such an important aspect of her life, that she made the decision to become a Certified Pilates Instructor. |
